Personal data protection for training courses

When training is ordered and organised, we process the personal data needed to arrange your attendance and the related communication.

Data processed: name and e-mail; optionally company, company ID (IČO) and telephone.

We use the data for:

  • processing a training order,
  • communication about the date, the course of the training and its organisation,
  • contacting the enquirer in order to obtain the data needed to issue an invoice, should the training be agreed,
  • a record of attendance and the possible issuing of a certificate.

The legal basis for the processing is taking steps prior to entering into a contract and performance of the contract; in the case of organising and recording the training it may also be the legitimate interest of Qintec a.s. We keep data from an expression of interest in training for no more than 3 months if no contract is concluded. We keep participants’ data and accounting documents for the duration of the contractual relationship and subsequently for the statutory retention periods.

We do not automatically use data from a training booking to send marketing messages.

Laboratory environment and training materials

The training is not a lecture with slides. Each participant gets our own lab environment, in which they work through the whole course on live servers — including the things nobody dares try in production: a node failure, a cluster split, recovery from backup.

The environment for the participant

Your own cluster, not a shared demo

  • a separate laboratory environment with up to 4 nodes for each participant,
  • access through a browser — without installing anything on your own computer,
  • full administrator rights: the participant installs, clusters, breaks and repairs,
  • the environment matches the course scenarios — cluster, shared storage, HA, backup,
  • access to the environment even after the course ends, to finish the exercises.
Materials

Official materials as a practical handbook

  • official Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH training materials in digital form,
  • they serve as a reference manual after the course as well, not as a one-off handout,
  • exercises and assignments for the individual modules in the training portal,
  • made available after payment and once the training starts, under an individual sign-in,
  • each copy is marked with the participant's name and is not intended for further distribution.
Output

A certificate and usable knowledge

  • Certificate of Completion from Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH for every graduate,
  • the course is run by Proxmox Certified Trainer,
  • a record of the scenarios tested as a basis for your own operating documentation,
  • the option to follow up with a consultation on your specific environment.

Who runs the training?

Proxmox Training Partner — Qintec a.s. is a training partner of Proxmox Server Solutions

The training is delivered by Ľubomír Hatina, Proxmox Certified Trainer — certified directly by Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH. Qintec a.s. is also Proxmox Training Partner: we train according to the official Proxmox curriculum and course graduates receive Certificate of Completion issued by Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH.

We deploy and operate Proxmox VE ourselves: we carried out a complete migration of a state institution's virtualisation environment from VMware to Proxmox VE, including the change of backup to Proxmox Backup Server, as well as deployments of Proxmox VE nodes in further public sector environments. In the training you therefore get experience from production migrations, not just theory from the documentation.

What Proxmox VE is and why companies are moving to it

Do you use VMware vSphere (ESXi), Microsoft Hyper-V or XCP-ng and are looking for a more favourable alternative? After the acquisition of VMware by Broadcom, licensing moved to a subscription model and the costs of many companies — in Slovakia as well — rose significantly. Frequently asked questions about the training

Where do the training courses take place?
Open course dates take place at the training centre GOPAS at Dr. Vladimíra Clementisa 10 in Bratislava. In-company training is delivered at your workplace by arrangement.
Is Proxmox VE a full replacement for VMware vSphere?
For most corporate scenarios, yes: it covers virtualisation of VMs and containers, high-availability clusters, live migrations, software-defined storage and integrated backup via Proxmox Backup Server — with no licence fees for the hypervisor. We assess suitability for a specific environment individually.
Will you help us with the migration from VMware too, not just with training?
Yes. We carried out a complete migration of a state institution's virtualisation environment from VMware to Proxmox VE, including replacing the backup. Migrations and environment design are handled by our division Infrastructure and data centres — training is the ideal first step so that your team can handle the migration too.
Will I get a certificate after the training?
Yes. On completing the course you receive a Certificate of Completion issued by Proxmox Server Solutions GmbH. The training is led by our Proxmox certified trainer from Qintec a.s.
How long does the training last and in what format does it run?
Individual courses follow the official syllabus and last 14 hours (2 training days), the combined package 28 hours (4 days or 8 half-days). We train in person and always hands-on — each participant has their own lab environment.
When and how will I receive the training materials?
We make the official materials available after payment and once the course has started, in a protected environment under each participant's individual sign-in. Copies are marked with the participant's name and are not intended for further distribution.
What do I practise on during the training?
Each participant gets their own lab environment with several nodes, which they connect to through a browser — with no installation on their own computer. They have full administrator rights in it, so they can also try out scenarios that cannot be tried in production: a node failure, a cluster breaking apart, recovery from a backup.
What prerequisites do I need?
The Deployment and Management course requires basic experience with server administration and virtualisation. For the Clustering and Shared Storage course we recommend completing Deployment and Management first, or having equivalent practical experience with Proxmox VE.
Why move from VMware to Proxmox VE?
Proxmox VE is an open-source virtualisation platform with no licence fees for the hypervisor, with support for clusters, HA and integrated backup via Proxmox Backup Server. Since the changes to VMware licensing it is one of the most frequently considered alternatives.
Do you have real, practical experience with Proxmox?
Yes. Among other things, we have carried out a complete migration of a state institution's virtualisation environment from VMware to Proxmox VE, including moving backup to Proxmox Backup Server, and the deployment of Proxmox VE nodes in further environments.
