Energy monitoring of buildings and consumption

We turn the consumption you cannot see today into numbers you can save with. EnviroMonitor is energy monitoring of buildings and facilities: continuous measurement with real-time evaluation — from sensors and wireless data acquisition LoRaWAN without cabling to a portal over all measurements with clear reporting.

You measure once and see the results continuously — and they also help meet the obligations energy efficiency.

Consumption stops being an estimate

Measurement by building and by metering point, comparison of periods and an alert when consumption deviates. An invoice can be checked against figures, not impressions.

The problem: consumption you cannot see

A monthly invoice shows only the total — not where and when energy is being lost. Without continuous measurement, overconsumption is discovered late, saving measures cannot be verified and comparing buildings with one another is guesswork, not data.

  • identification of excess consumption and leaks at a specific time and site,
  • verification that the savings measures introduced are working,
  • comparison of sites and calculation of costs in real time.

EnviroMonitor by Qintec: a portal covering all measurements

EnviroMonitor collects data from meters and sensors and displays it in a clear web portal. It measures electricity, water, gas, heat, domestic hot water, photovoltaic generation, CO2 and meteorological data — for state, municipal, commercial and residential buildings as well as industry. It includes equipment diagnostics, comparison of sites and cost reporting.

Data acquisition technologies: LoRaWAN without cabling

Measurement collection runs on LoRaWAN radio technology in the 868 MHz band — with a range of up to 20 km in open space (2–5 km in built-up areas) and battery-powered devices lasting up to 10 years. The data is transmitted by any gateway within signal range, so installation does not require cabling the building. Meters can also be connected via M-Bus, RS-232/RS-485 or pulse outputs.

How it all works — in 50 seconds:

Energy in operation, not in a spreadsheet

Meters, switchboards and equipment send data continuously. Instead of a monthly reading you have a profile in which even something that lasted a single night can be seen.

Deployment in practice

Self-governing region — since 2024 we have been measuring consumption and the environment in the region's buildings, including school buildings. Electricity, water, heat, domestic hot water, gas and photovoltaic generation, plus CO2 and meteorological data. The manager sees the sites side by side in a single portal and compares which building is out of line.

Other references are given anonymised until written client consent is granted.

Why now: energy efficiency obligations

The EU Energy Efficiency Directive (EED 2023/1791) changes the criterion for these obligations from the size of the company to consumption: companies consuming more than 10 TJ a year face an energy audit by 11 October 2026, and companies above 85 TJ certified energy management (ISO 50001). The new Slovak energy efficiency act now being prepared introduces blanket collection of public sector consumption data and reporting for data centres with an input power of 500 kW and above. Without continuous measurement of consumption these obligations are hard to meet — monitoring is the first step.

Frequently asked questions about energy monitoring

What can you measure?
Electricity, water, gas, heat, domestic hot water, photovoltaic output, CO2 and meteorological data. Measurements are collected continuously and displayed in the client portal.
Does it work without cabling the building?
Yes. Data acquisition runs on the LoRaWAN wireless technology (868 MHz) with a range of up to 20 km in open space and 2–5 km in built-up areas. Sensors and meters connect without any cabling.
How long do the sensor batteries last?
LoRaWAN devices are designed for low power consumption — batteries last up to 10 years depending on the device type and how often measurements are sent.
How do I get to the measured data?
Through the EnviroMonitor web client portal with a responsive design — it works in common browsers on a computer and on a mobile. Objects can be compared with one another and costs tracked in real time.
Can the system be connected to energy suppliers?
Yes, EnviroMonitor has integrations to external systems in place — for example SPP, SSD and Solax — and supports MQTT and REST API interfaces for further connections.
